In the meantime there are several WYSIWYM- (What You See Is What You Mean) programs like LyX for LINUX which make it possible to write LaTeX-documents without knowing the LaTeX syntax (They work as front-ends). Nevertheless you can use the full power of your installed TeX / LaTeX - packages.
